I make web stuff.

Need a mobile-responsive site for your business? Let's do it. Looking to turn a database full of hurricane victims into a user-updatable map? Sweet. Want an app that will keep track of all of your favorite restaurants' opening hours? Let me at it.

Sites, web apps, maps, interactive graphics, complicated data conversion — this what I do. I speak fluent HTML(5) and CSS(3). I'm also proficient in MySQL and PHP on the back end, and jQuery on the front end. Wanna build from a platform instead of from scratch? I'm equally at home in Drupal and Wordpress.

Here are a few of my favorite projects:

I take pictures.

Starting June 18, 2012, I took a picture every day for a year. (Trust me: it was harder than it sounds.) The result is a chronicle of my first year as a full-time freelancer — from Spokane to Santa Barbara to southern Italy and back.

I get around.

My degree from the University of Redlands' Johnston Center was in travel writing (actually it was called 'Travel Writing in Narrative and Song'). Give me a little money and time, and let's see where we can go.

I collect languages.

I've studied French, Spanish, Italian, and Xhosa. Up next? I'm thinking German. Or Dutch.

I make music.

I've produced three albums, all recorded in basements, bedrooms, or borrowed office spaces. Here are a couple of tracks from the recent one, The Filibuster (plus, one of the 'Life in the Data' podcast episodes I recorded for Pacific Standard).

I'm always learning.

What I'm studying these days:

Wanna do something cool?

Let's do it.
